PROJECT INVENT FELLOWS:
LEADING VOICES IN INNOVATIVE EDUCATION

“Due to our desire to create empathetic innovators, we sought out opportunities to incorporate community partnership into the classroom. Through Project Invent, we were able to invite students to innovate with the specific purpose of creating something for people in our Bronx community.”

“When we started, my students were new to engineering and design. Together, we moved from square one. We learned CAD Fusion 360; we learned to prototype. And the relationships that came out of that were so incredible. The learning, too. There was so much effort and joy put into this project.”

“I’ve broken away from provided curriculum and enhanced it. My students are thinking deeply about problems, debating, and expressing opinions. Their passion is blooming before my eyes.”

“How can we teach students not just to a test, but to solve problems that they would solve in the real world – to make it as authentic as possible? This is something that is core to my teaching practice: To give students an opportunity to take ownership of their learning.”
